Here's the deal I give folks on this forum. If you're truly on the fence about the pads, purchase the Hawk HPS pads from me, if you don't like them I'll give you a full refund.

Can't get better than that.

I've noticed that too. Even with regular driving not even spirited. My rims get covered in brake dust! Gonna hit up those Hawk Pads when the brakes are due!

I got pad and rotors from Acute about six months ago. I had a lot of pad left at the time but could not stand all the dust. Best decision I ever made with my car. I have very little dust now. Wash my car about once a week and the wheels don't normally look dirty now. With stock pads the wheels were totally covered in less than a week - drove me nuts! Ordered the pads and rotors from Mike and had them in less than a week.

I will never go back to stock pads!!!

DavidF,
The do make Akebono's in ceramic for 545's and assume they fit all E60's. (I'm not that much up to speed on the similarities). I just replaced my back ones and ordered the fronts today from NAPA Auto. So far they feel as good as stock pads and the rears have NO dust at all, while the fronts are very dirty.
I know the rears don't produce much dust anyway, but there is none at all in over a week.

I like akebonno euro ceramics. Have them on my other BMW's but not on the E60 yet, so not 100% sure they are available for the E60. They are easy on the rotors, virtually dustless, and exhibit good pedal feel.

I have a caramic akebono on my E46 and I do not like it. It feels like the rotors are oiled or something like that. I admit no dust but not the same braking power as OEM pads. I
I think that BMW and Benz knows that the customers complain about the dust but they choose better braking over dust. The solution is to clean the wheels more often or paint black or get black wheels so the dust will not be noticeable. It's entirely up to you. But I will not put them on my car again for sure.

I had Hawk HPS on a previous vehicle, and found that during the winter months with the lower temps the bite was horrible. These pads need to get up to temperature for optimal performance. They are great when it comes to less brake dust.
