My wife's X5 had the Idrive screen lockup on a navigation image, and nothing we did would change the screen. No Idrive menu, radio controls, communication etc. Then after restarting the car, the screen went completely blank! I figured little Gremlins were at work in the dash of our car, and I figured it would take a trip to the dealer to exorcise them from the dash. I of course found myself going to our beloved forum and finding out how to "reboot" the screen etc. Happily by the time I went back to the car in the garage, the screen was working just fine. (whew!) I suppose the mere thought of our E60 Forum was enough to keep these nasty Gremlins at bay. 
My main point here is this, I belong to several forums, one specifically for X5's, and I felt more confident that our forum would have the answer, so I never went elsewhere. This REALLY is a wonderful resource, and a fun place to be to boot! 
(or reboot?)
