I am a music fan and am about to collect my first ever BMW / E60 for my 40th birthday present to me

When I got my first car (Peugot 205 GTI - remember them!! ) many years ago, I played AC/DC "Back In Black" whilst driving out of the showroom

I have had years of boring Fords and an Audi since then and would like to know what is the best track / CD to listen to (Hi Fi spkrs up grade) when driving out of the showroom on my 40th birthday in my new E60

Should it be AC/DC again, U2, Dire Straits, Steve Forbert, Floyd ? What best captures the,E60 new car feeling?

Suggestions please

The Prodigy - "Breathe" or if you are bringing home a 535d then, "Diesel Power".

Sammy Hagar - "I Can't Drive 55"

Gap Band - "Burn Rubber"

Fast & Furious Soundtrack

50 Cent - "I Don't Know, Officer"

Marilyn Monroe - "Happy Birthday Mr. President"

BTW, Happy Birthday! Enjoy

Hey, Dire Strait's "Money for Nothing" will get you burning. Get the extended version and wait until that electric guitar kicks in. Then floored it.

The BESTEST song, (according to, of course, me), for driving out of the showroom is Queen's: "A Night At The Opera, Track 13: Title: "I'm In Love With My Car"...even has a recording of a high-revving engine!!! But the BESTESTESTEST cd with which to SPEEEEEEEEED, is Yello One Second...especially with the first track, "La Habanera"...ya'll just have to hear it with the volume UUUUP!!! It's such a great speeding-in-the-middle-of-the-desert-kinda-song!

"Dark Star" especially if you have a dark car.

Speaking (by or of) idiots above, and since you say you are into music, I was going to suggest a variety for the 6 CD changer. By period:

Beethoven's Triple Concerto (piano, violin, and cello) [Wonderfully exhuberant sawing and playing]

F. Schubert's "The Trout" (Piano Quintet in A) [Careful, you'll swim right off the road]

George Gershwin generally, Piano Concerto [Love the 1930s traffic honking horns]

Ken Burns Jazz series: Ella Fitzgerald CD "Blue Skies" [the point of the whole CD; see Schubert warning above]

Ken Burns Jazz Series: Benny Goodman "King Porter Stomp", Sarah Vaughn "They Can't Take That Away From Me"; Dave Brubeck "Take Five"; John Coltrane "Giant Steps" and the killer last cut "Take the A Train" by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. One-stop shopping on an all-originals compilation CD

Taj Mahal Giant Step: "Give Your Woman What She Wants" "Six Days on the Road"

Queen: "Night at the Opera"

And, the BMW Audiophile CD that comes with the system (the old one from the E39 wasn't bad either; both feature John Pizzarelli]

That's what I keep around; your mileage may vary.
