Different thing. You're talking about an alarm going off. This is just about the beeps/chirps/horn that sounds the arming and disarming of the alarm stateside that we don't have on this side of the pond (not sure about the UK). I imagine it's a european directive or something. They love that kind of rule.

I hear ya though on nighttime alarms. Whenever I'm in New York I'm always hearing those stupid-ass Clifford alarms going off. The ones that cycle through half a dozen different alarm patterns. I think they go off when a fly lands on the roof of the car.
