e60scotland,

Is the trim inside light or dark poplar? I'm thinking it's dark, I really like the combination. Quick reply would be appreciated have mine on order with the dark right now.

Thanks

Dark Poplar is the interior trim, it all goes well together with the natural hide and black.

2 weeks on from collection and all is well, yesterday the residue which was left on the paint was removed at the dealer, this was done by using an autoglym product which crystalised on the car when dry, then removed and polished, the valet gave me a bottle of the BMW Hard wax which i applied later in the day to seal everything including the 172's.

No pics i'm afraid as i'm simply so very tired with work and no time to play

Update... 8 weeks in and all is good (touch wood)

Well i'm happy to report that i'm enjoying everything about my e60, still finding little things every week that make me smile.

The ride and performance is sublime considering it's an oil burner, cornering high speed is amazing and i can now fully understand the rear driver syndrom, having driven mainly fwd over the years only now am i begining to fully understand the benifits of rwd.

I'm loving the interior just as much as the exterior, the natural hide has been from day one a beautiful combo with the black and anthracite headliner, no marks to speak of and it's wearing well under my larger than average butt.

Now there has to be downsides to all vehicle ownership... my little downers concern parking, the 172's and the back end....

Parking... well i hate NCP's even more these days, finding myself going to the top floor just to take up two free bays incase anyone decides to let loose with a flying door, so far so good.

The 172's... stunning wheels, I really really love these and one day i'll rear end someone because i was to busy staring at the reflection of my wheels in a shop window... my downer on the 172's is very simple, they are a bitch to clean... i'm making sure they are done once a week though and that seems to keep the brake dust at bay.

The Back end... I remember a good friend of mine speaking to me on his mobile whist hairing up the m40 in his e39 M5, it was raining and he was in awe of the rooster tails and general back wash from the e39, he put it down to the diffuser/undertray at the back end of the car, now i'm not claiming my e60 resembles the e39 BUT blow me it pushes out one hell of a spray when the road is even slightly wet... now dont be staring in the rear view mirror to long or you'll be blaming me for your rear ending someone BUT if it's raining heavily have a peak and youll see the wash come back in on your bumper.... this brings me to the point where within minutes of hitting the road i can pull over and there is a layer of dust on the bumper and on the rear facing part of the boot lid, not sure if this is bad design but it sure defeats the keep it clean thoughts as i doubt it will remain clean for long in the UK weather.

Today... I have a red 320d on loan from my dealer, they are fitting my HGSL and truth be known I'm not feeling to comfortable right now... i will be spending a considerable amount of time checking all panels when I collect my 'beastie', I'll also spend time pushing and prodding to check fitment, I'll try to remember my camera in order that I can take some pics once the HGSL has been installed, look out for these later today.

e60 ownership is good

I read another thread on a Swedish BMW Forum where a guy had himself changed to HGSL. Nicely laid out with pics and everything, but he stressed that it is VERY easy to scratch the metal when replacing, so my advise is to check the paintwork around all doors, and check it carefully!

Very Nice!

Congrats.

Now how about some 10mm spacers for the rear 172's ?

Disillusionment is setting in yet again.....

As i mentioned earlier my e60 was in to have HGSL fitted today.....

The result....

Not all trim was fitted.... missing mirror surrounds and mirror bracket surrounds

One piece of trim has a chip

Several pieces of trim are not fitted correctly

Top door seal on driver and passenger doors not fitted correctly

It really amazed me that (touch wood) so far i can't see any bodywork damage.

So where does this leave me.... I have to now await the replacement part that was chipped and in addition await the trim that was not there to be fitted.... In addition I was told when i collected the car that there is a recall on fuel injectors, i guess everyone will have that one coming to them shortly.

Again my local dealer seems to have let me down, their customer skills suck foul monkey ass too... their bodyshop manager even began to argue points with me until i basically told him where to get off, i'm not impressed and at this point wish i'd simply left the car with the matt black finish, I would advise this to anyone who has had their's delivered without HGSL, leave it as it is.

Needless to say my enthusiasm to take some nice pictures faded very quickly as i yet again left this dealership wondering if they really value my custom.

It sounds like they should be called "Son of type 135."
