RTFM ... Should be in page #246 in your Owner's Manual ... the same location where the jumper cables go under the hood.
In case your car didn't came w/ a hard copy of the manual you can view it online in PDF pg #248 from http://www.5series.n...s_Manual_US.pdf

8 weeks is a long time for a tender/charger to put even 1 or more amps into your battery. The better
sytems cycle off when the battey reaches a certain voltage or charge on a time cycle.
Make sure you don't overcharge the battery!
The hood up with the switch activated will be fine.

Red clamp to positive termial, black to ground. Plug in to 110 wall oulet. Let hood down to closed but not fully latched position. Leave indefinitely--it's a smart charger not a battery charger. Done.

If your battery tender is smart and puts out only enough current to keep the battery topped off.

Oh...and mine is a Deltran battery tender...when attached to the car...it stays plugged in all the time. I use the same thing on my 911 and it works great...battery in it is going on 9 years. By far the best $50 I've ever spent
