I have brake dust that's solidified, especially on my front rims. I've tried regular cleaning detergents and that doesn't help at all. Any suggestions of what I should try ?

That is the tar specks i believe, you can get rip of it by using clay bar or tar remover

Try a Magic Eraser, it will get off both the barke and brake dust

+1 for a clay bar....

careful with the magic eraser, heard the chemicals can be abrasive (not sure though)

Would washing it weekly prevent the dust being caked on?

My older 2007 525i got really out of hand with the brake dust and the front rims looked horrible.
