Default Bang noise on aggressive take-off

Hello All - I have a bang noise (which seems from the front left) on aggressive take-offs. It may bang once or twice depending on how aggressive the throttle. It rarely happens in 2 second gear and always in 1st gear. The transmission is smooth so I suspect it may be an engine mount?

Any ideas?

That is most likely flex in your suspension bushings, I'd bet its this part number 12

RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog

A lift and a crowbar and some visual inspection will tell you for sure.

Thanks. Good call! They put it on a lift and the lower right control arm (inner side) is loose and making noise. Sounds like metal-on-metal.

Awsome! Loose as in it wasnt tightened down properly or you mean the joint was loose and needed replacement?

It needed replacement. They replaced the control arm, but stated the bang is still there. So it seems it's something else.

Thats weird. In 90% of the time bushing will make that noise. They should be better able to pinpoint it now on a lift.

It looks to be an engine mount. Apparently, the left one is worn.

hmm, I've never heard a sound like that from an engine mount. I could be mistaken. Keep us updated.

It was the left one. Both replaced and bang noise gone. Glad it's finally fixed

hah, interesting I'm developing the same issue as you are now. But it also bangs when i turn right, sometimes twice. Did that happen with you? my suspension bushing aren't even a year old.
