Hey guys I am new and have a question about an EAS backup camera I recently installed in my 08 535i. It is triggered off the backup light from the truck but does not activate every time. The system is looking for 12v to trigger and based on my volt meter that is supplied when the backup light comes on.

You need to also install an automotive 4 pin relay 12V with reverse light power/ ground.
Good luck

Exactly, you can get the 12v trigger power from the brake light but I had the same problem. video was not acceptable... After installing the 4 pin relay allis perfect. It looks like the system needs 12v and the power from the light is not quite there. The relay will then send the 12v from your battery or where ever you decide to get it from.

It is not clear to me whether you are able to get the picture to show up on the iDrive screen? I have a MY 2007 (pre LCI) 530i. Is ther a DIY somewhere?

Thanks, guys.

Not really, we just pretend to be... In my case the XCarlink guys told me to try it and if fixed my issue and also someone on the forum posted it too with an actual picture of the relay and connections.
