This means you have a low battery charge. Turn on the car and turn your steering wheel all the way to the right and then turn it all the way to the left. This will reset the system.

I don't have an XI, but I had those errors on mine and the SZL was replaced. No errors since.

Does this really reset the system? My battery has died twice this winter - will performing this help the situation?

Mine did the same thing on New Year's day. Dealer replaced the steering angle sensor under CPO warranty. No problems since. Does anybody know how often these things go bad?

I had that come up on my HUD' and the dealer just replaced the battery and said that was the cause.No problems since.

i had that issue come up and my car wouldnt start... i gave it 5 mins went back out tried starting it and it came on.... when it came on the codes went away... dealer said it was the battery. but if ur car is running and that happens and u have no p\b starting the car i dont think the battery is ur issue

+1. Mine did that almost a year ago and I'm still on the same battery. Also, it would pop up intermittently while the car is already on. Replacing the Steering angle sensor (aka SZL) fixed it.
