Default AWD and DSC Malfunction

My 2007 530 xi has lately been showing this after several minutes of driving. And at the same time as it comes on (and clunks with it disengages) the blower fan cuts out for seveal minutes. Not great when it's freezing up here in Canada. The blower will eventually click back on but the AWD/DSC Malfunction stays on and the car is unstable. Any htoughts or ideas from anyone that may help? Thx. Dave

my 530xiT is also showing AWD/DSC Malfunction this morning.
But I deleted it by pressing check button on turn signal lever.

If something is wrong it will light up again. But it never turned on so far.

1) That's a familiar one - probably your steering angle sensor. It went out on my a few years back. Search the highlighted terms for more information. Over time it may fail completely and the check message on iDrive will remain on. Mine was repaired under warranty when my '07 was about 2 yrs old and didn't reoccur. (I traded my '07 3 weeks ago for my '13 535xDrive.)

2) As you probably have read, if you've wandered thru this forum, battery issues can also trigger multiple error messages. Since winter has recently arrived in your neck of the woods you might also want to confirm the health of your battery. A "simple" Digital VOM reading from the under hood post with your car "off" should show at least 12VDC and 13.5VDC while running with the headlights ON. Search the forum for BATTERY and don't be shocked to read the issues :-(
