Hi everyone

I have a couple of question about the Aux input in the E60.

1 - If I plug in my i-pod or any MP3, will I get some sort of a menu in the i-drive to operate the ipod from? Or will I have to use the ipod itself to select songs?

2- Which source will have priority, CD, MP3 player, AM/FM? What I mean is, if I have a CD playing when I plug my MP3 player in, will the CD stop and the MP3 takes over?

Sorry if it's a silly question, I just wanted to know how it'll work.

1 It's just a simple wire connection using jacks. Ipod menu.

2 My ex-factory AUX input is IDrive selectable; FM/AM/CD/DVD/AUX

So can you use any MP3 Player or must it be an iPod? Am I correct in assuming I must purchase the wiring interface?

Thanks aybeesea for the prompt reply.

So I will be able to use the i-drive to screen the MP3 player's contents?!!

This will automatically answer my second question, as I will use the idrive screen to select which source to play.

Anyone else with similar situation.

1. If you plug in your iPod or any audio into the AUX there is no information other than audio pumped over that connection. On the iDrive screen you'll get only what's there when nothing special. You must use your mp3 player to select songs.

2. Priority is set by you. Think of your home stereo if you play a CD while the receiver is set to radio nothing happens until you select the source. It works the same way in your car. Unlike some cars like Toyota you can't highjack a source.

If you want text and control of your iPod from the iDrive interface you'll need the MOST bus iPod adapter. This will give you access to playlists, albums, titles and such without needing to look at your iPod.
