$69 is equivalant to my 20 day Starbucks supply
If I need another AUX cable, I can just go to BMW dealer and order one. BMW dealer will stay longer than our car. What I'm afraid is I might misplace my stuff if I move again next year.

I did this. Took about an hour and it was well worth it. The sound quality on the low end is much improved. You can now hear all bass frequencies. Before this mod, the bass lacked a definite low end and richness/fullness. I have a 12" JL Sub in my trunk. Now my CDs and Ipod sound equally as good. Thanks to the original poster for this mod!

You're welcome, acribb!
I'll have a lot of idea, but it's still in the installation stage I'll share it once I'm done!

Like to add my thanks. Found the thread an hour ago and just done the mod. Superb sound compared to the stock Aux. I use Apple Lossless Compression on my 60Gb iPod so the sound should be as good as CD, which it definitely was not. It is now. Well worth the time. Thanks to all.

Hi,

I've made this mod as well, and now (about 2-3 months later) I got suddenly a 'battery drain' message after using the aux input for about 2 hours. It could be of course caused by something else. The dealer replaced the battery but this didn't sove the problem. Next week it will be analysed in detail at the dealer.

Had anyone similar problems once the aux 'modification' was executed ?

Thx,

Bdb

I've had a 'high battery drain' warning problem before. Only way it could be linked to the aux is if you have dislodged some power cables whilst poking about - or if you had a 12volt outlet fitted at the same time, but incorrectly wired.

Something electrical in your car is 'waking up' when the electrical systems should be in sleep mode. Your dealer should be able to find it by hooking your car up to the diagnostic equipment and leaving it alone for several hours.

Chaps like you MAKE this forum a simply STUNNING resource.
DITTO! I was literally about to call my BMW Center today to ask about the lack of bass on my AUX input and I am so glad I found this thread (and this one)! Took me longer to get the glovebox lowered but the end result was exactly what I was looking for. Using my SIRIUS receiver directly connected, sounds great (now!).

Thanks again to this great site... have only had my 530i for a few months now and already found a bunch of great resources here.

(sorry for bumping up an old thread, but it's a goodie!)

.... WOW - Noticeable Change - No volume problems going from Radio/CD/Aux

( it took me months to have the balls to cut into the wires.... )

This will make this AUX cable cost $200
To be honest, we can make this cable for less than $15 with BMW connect pin.

Has BMW fixed this problem for the 2008 ???

Hi,

Good news for those who complained AUX input has less bass and sound quality. AUX input filter out low frequency and degrade sound input by those 220nF capacitors and 300K-ohm resistors.
After removed those caps and resistors, sound quality is just like CD quality with abundant of bass. Let me know if you need help.
In addition, extra wire length also another factor contributes to low sound quality because the AUX itself is about 4-5 feet long plus your connection wire (another 3-6ft) from your iPod/MP3 player to AUX plug. Signals have to travel 8 to 10 feet from your iPod/MP3 player to MAS-K/CCC.
In my case, I removed 2 feet of AUX wires and I use monster cable (3ft). Therefore, mine is just 5 feet for signal to travel to MAS-K/CCC.
This job takes me less than 30 minutes to do.
oh my god "my530i" i am female!! wires?!!?!? melting them together?!?!?!? ohhhhhhhhhhh geez.. cant there be an easier way.. i loved pluggin in my ipod.. but it SOOOO sounded like shit.. caps..? your getting into technical talk and it hurts my girly brain.. shit! wish this was easier................. maybe ill stick with the satellite for now till i can get someone to do this crap...
