In the idrive menu there are 2 times for automatic ventillation. When i set it up is the mornings, i presume hot air is blown into the cabin? Will it turn off by itself or do i have to turn it off?

I don't think the system heats or cools the air, it simply circulates outside air. I believe the main purpose is for the summer time, if you park outside and the interior gets very hot from the sun, the system will circulate fresh air at the set time to help cool off the car before you come out to it. Don't have a manual here, but I think it is timed for 15 minutes of operation.

On the continent there's an option for an auxilary heater. That's controlled from the same menu to heat the car in the morning. I tried to get it retrofitted but they won't do it..

I like this feature alot. I use it every day. My only gripe with it is that you have to set it every day. It won't remember the setting. Well, it remembers the time but unchecks to box. I wish it always stayed checked.

Yep. I've got it and love this feature. It even comes with a remote and it runs 30 minutes (also warms up the engine, AFAIK). After about five minutes you can feel it allready. In idrive you have two settings. One for the heater and one for the parked car ventilation, like FF said.
That means, ventilation is not heating up the interior. Just ventilation...

You guys get all the good toys! I bet a lot of folks here in the states would love to have that auxilary heater option.

I guess thats so if you left you went away for a month or something and forgot to uncheck, it won't drain your battery.

Yep.
I don't understand why BMW is not allowing US customers to add options to the cars/packages.
I don't think it's a good idea to only sell packages.
It would be better if they offer packages AND let everybody chose additional options if they want them.

No, there is an option in the iDrive for ventilation that will circulate fressh at a time you set to cool (US) or even heat (Europe only) your car at a preset time. Different from the rec button that is part of AC system
