I have been using the adaptive Xenons in my car on "auto" mode, which I am slowly getting used to (read: getting lazy). I have however noticed that the lights sometimes fail to switch back off when I expect them to. Yesterday, they flicked on upon entering the tunnel near my home, but failed to switch back off, depite the fact that I was in bright sunshine - bright enough for me to pop my shades back on. Time was about 6:30pm or so. I have noticed similar behaviour earlier in the week to, and am wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

I had this problem until I left the car in sun about 5 hours. After that I never got the problem again!
Sounds like some humidity in the sensor could cause it.

Thanks a million for the clarifications and links, folks.
Rudy: your description/explanation in the other thread you linked to has to be the most informative and succinct explanation I have received. It does also confirm my experiences with this phenomenon, i.e. it seems to happen in the evenings when the blazing sun is but a few degrees above the horizon.
