My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
Default

In a slight overcast condition, I noticed that my headlamps had gone off and I did not see daytime running lamps (reflections off of the car in front of me).

After reading the manual, it does not appear that we have automatice day-time running lights, but you need to manually switch on the lights. Am I missing something?

I thought day-time running lights where now required in the US?

I have them with a Sept 2003 manufacturing date. The dealer can program them on or off I believe, just ask.

That makes sense - Thanks. I bet they screwed up the programing when I had the update for bluetooth.

You dealer needs to program the DRLs to be on (at least in US).

DLR lights are not required in CA. That being said, I believe the sensitivity of your Auto-lights are wacked. It happened to me when I upgraded my software to V15.X My lights will not turn on until very late in the evening, and it may turn on during full day light.

The dealer has set the sensitivity back to "Normal" now and it is now fine.

And since there is sometimes confusion as to whether or not California is part of the USA, JDN's abbreviation refers to the country of Canada, not the state of California...I think...

No need for DRLs in the United States. Thank goodness; they are truly annoying IMO.
