My Ride: UK 2006 530D MSport. Auto, Silver Grey, Black Dakota, 172 19" Mixed Wheels, Visibility, Media Pack, Sun Protective Glass, Hi-Fi Speaker System, Heated Seats, Enhanced voice control, M Lip Spoiler.
The E60 has developed a fault on the auto-wipe, light on stalk illuminates but there is no initial calibration wipe, and so they don't work in auto mode. Wipers work fine in normal manual mode.
There appeared to be a bubble in the glue holding the sensor to the screen, I have replaced this lens assembly and it is now bubble-free. Unfortunately auto-wipe still does not work!
Any ideas other than change the IR module itself?

The sensor unit is not glued to the screen, there is a gell to make good contact. The sensor is held in place by a spring clip. A new sensor does not need initialising, a second hand one will need initialising. I've just changed mine, I was getting the initial wipe only. It now works as it should.
