Auto unlock when engine is turned off
I have a 2008 535i and whenever I go to get out after turning the engine off and removing the key, the doors don't auto unlock and I either have to hit the master unlock button or pull the door handle twice to open. Is there a way to have the doors auto unlock (it does this on my 2006 Range Rover) when the ignition is turned off or the key removed or.....?

Thats normal and you can get coding done to the car to change it to unlock when the key is removed. If you are near Orange county I suggest contacting member nomis_nech about getting some coding done. Hes a great guy and I've never had a problem with any of the work that he did on my car.
Thanks for the shout out Derek.
twozzle, you're near the Bay, so probably coders out around that way would work out for you. Unless, of course, you come down to OC or something. I do do a bunch of other mods for E60 as well. Hit me up if you're interested.

I know european auto source (eas) also does coding, though not sure all the coding they do. They can do things like code your iDrive to play DVD's while in motion, so I'd assume they can do a simple unlock when you turn engine off.

Here you go. They're in Anaheim. They're a well known vendor on a few forums.

FWIW, the ability to code auto unlock upon ignition off is not an option on all my BMW's/MINI (other than the E60). But, I have not checked to see if the E60 has that coding option (auto unlock). So, what I am saying is that possibly the E60 cannot be coded for auto unlock.

Don't forget you can turn off the drive-away autolock in the idrive. I like the autolock as a safety feature but it can be turned off if you're not worried about it.
