Default Auto tilt-away for exit...... INTERMITTENT

I have been plagued with the exit assist feature of the steering wheel moving up and out of the way on my ex E39 only working most of the time but never without fail.
Treated it as just a minor nuisance for years and lived with it until it died completely on me. And assumed it would be just one of those gremlins...

Now on my E60 I am beginning to experience the same "feature" and am beginning to wonder how many of you have this problem as well on your E60's here and hopefully have a solution for this?

Find that with my E60 this is more annoying of course as I have to find and fiddle with that hidden "little knobby" under the steering wheel to move it up manually.

thanks

There is a reset procedure discussed on here. A few years ago mine was doing the same thing and I don't think I actually ever figured it out. I still had the problem but it did seem to improve and after I fixed new seat positions and saved them in the memory keys and then returned them to where I originally had them it seemed to have gone away. I don't remember saying "yes, its fixed" but I know I don't have the problem any longer. The rest went something like this. Run the tilt all the way up until it stops, then release and hold it up again until it moves and stops, drive it down in the same way until it stops, then release and hold down again until it moves and stops. Maybe give this a try.
