My Ride: 06 530i. Premium, Sport, powere shades, Sat. radio and hopefully the occasional groupy in the seat.
I thought the auto headlights were supposed to just come on in low light conditions? or are they supposed to come on all the time?

My auto headlights come on more than they need to. I am taking my car in on Tuesday and will have this adjusted along with a few other things...

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
I don't want to steal any of Rudy's Librarian Thunder, but there are a lot of threads on this topic, as recent as November 05, (I saw them this afternoon). It seems that some success may be garnered by having your dealer set the lights to Most Sensitive (to UV light), but then, from what I read, that's a crap shoot too.
Whaddayawant for $65K?

We'll see if the adjustment does anything or not. Also having HUD position adjusted, Active cruise looked at (turns itself off randomly)also having a "jerky" situation around 20mph when engine is cold looked at.

I hope to god I don't have any issues. I certainly don't want to have to take my car into service here where I live. They offer a wonderful line up of Pontiac Grand Ams. Thats a 5 series payment well spent.

Its a well known problem: when you start your car in the dark (your garage): the light will stay on for a long period execpt if late in the morning (clock interaction...). No fix yet with CIP 19.
A quick fix but not satisfying: turn the car off and on... Once you exit the dark zone: the light will goes off...

Got the 19.2 update today, but I have not tested that feature because it's so damned dark here all to time...
Update 20 will be available this month, maybe they have the fix there???

I also think that if you have DRL enabled, then the lights are on all the time when the switch is in the Auto postion - that's my situation anyway, and I think it says this in the manual, as well.
