Hello people,

My 525 has had the usual gearbox upgrade and now my fuel consumption has worsened. When cold my engine revs between gear changes, When pulling away it seems as though I have backlash in the rear axle and finally I now have the "dreaded lurch" from second to first!

Anyone else suffered this?

Looks like another trip to BMW to have the reprogramming reprogrammed! <_<

hello Ray

what is the 'usual gearbox upgrade', please?

my only issue is sometimes, in full auto, in what i would guess to be 2nd/3rd gear and at about shift time, it hesitates and kind of 'burps' before engaging solidly... do you get this?

My car doesn't seem to change smoothly at all since the last upgrade (sorry dont know which version). It also seems to suffer amnesia when you put your foot down on the gas. Hesitates whilst thinking which gear to engage by which time it's too late and you continue at your previous rate. I notice in the lower gears (1st & 2nd) that the gearbox is quite noisy (whirring noise).

I'm pretty certain these are programming issues as I had similar with my E39 530D sport. A reprogramme sorted it out.

I sometimes wonder if it is because the car has six gears now that the issue is there. Obviously there isn't the differential beween ratios which may confuse the box on change points under accelleration.

Getting pretty annoying now. Fuel consumption gone from 30 mpg to 24 mpg. Notchy changes as well.

I was told that as these boxes are "adaptive" they take a while to learn all driving anomolies. However. The more mine "learns" the worse it's getting!

I have the same problem with my 730d.
I had the DSC and AUTO HOLD lights always on.
The check control function informed about some kind of failure.
Took the car to the dealer, they checked the software and have done the last software upgrade. The lights problem is solved.
The gearbox is not running as before.
No smooth gear changes since then and the gearbox was confused for 2 times since then.
The sport mode is not working well, and the regular D mode is confused and not auto adaptative as before.
Now i have a new surprise. Even with the phone switched off the phone signal icon is always on.
...... Upgrade?
The 530d will have manual gearbox.
