Auto Gear Select Indicator

My Ride: GONE BUT NOT FOGOTTEN : 530d SE Auto : Titanium Grey / Anthracite Leather, Poplar Trim, 18in 123 Style Alloys, Adaptive Bi-Xenons, Business Nav, Hi-Fi Speaker Package, Heated seats, Split-Fold Rear Seats
LR DISCO 3 HSE with everything (including 3 kids)

I am wondering why the Auto Gear Select indicator only displays D or DS while it will display M1 - M6 for manual mode.
Do you not think that it would be better if it also displayed the gear it was in when in D or DS, i.e display D1-D6 or DS1-DS6.
In practice it probably does not help much but it would be nice to see which gear you are in.

Dam - I was kinda hoping for a response that informed that if I pressed the gearselector down, turned the iDrive 6 turns to the left and held my breath for 5 minutes then it would start working

Also try balancing on the roof shark fin, wearing wellies and you will automatically upgrade the i - drive to windows 3.1.
