i wanna know too.....
btw....are everyone here (in aust) still using the Conti run flats?
my tires are nearly there (worn)......and considering options....(i've got the 19" 172 rims)....and here got not many choices...anyone got suggestion? many thanks
I ditched those OEM Bridgestone Run Flats as soon as I could and it was the best thing I've done. My car rides and handles so much better. I've got the 19" 166 rims and am currenly runnning Marangoni's Mythos tires 245 front 275 rear (made in italy same factory as Pirrelli's). For the price, Very happy so far in both wet and dry, but still not cheap. If $$ is less of a concern I would have gone for the Pirreli PZERO's.

Since Aus spec 5 series carry the spare in the boot, I had no second thoughts on switching to non-runflats, particularly given the crappy roads in Sydney.

I don't think BMW do 19" run flats in Australia. My 172's came with non-run flats and the dealer said only runflats are avaiable on 18's and smaller.

Just make sure you've got them becuase there is a good chance you have conventional tyres.

Hey,
The remus you got, was it the outlets on both sides or just the left side, I just ordered the outlets on the left side for my 530i ?
Does it sound much louder, or just gives it a good note ?

Thanks

I got Remus Exhaust from Carshine, not the cheapest but good to deal with.

LED Goodies available in Australia

Hi All,
There seems to be an abundance of LED goodies such as LED Angel Eyes, LED registration plate globes, LED interior globes, LED reversing globes (error message free) etc available in the US, are any of these available in Australia for a reasonable price or are victims of being so far away from everything we need to pay through the nose ...

Replacement Halogen Headlight Globes for 2005 530i
Hi All,
Just blew a headlight globe on the 530i today, just wondering if anyone has tried any of the higher intensity / higher output after market globes and what results did you get, I did replace my 325i ones and they were better ?
Knowing just because I got a blown headlight globe, it doesn't justify going crazy like upgrading to Bi-Xenon or HID, just considering my headlight options ...
Has anyone replaced the halogen headlights with the Bi-Xenon or HID conversion kits, can you replace the Halogen Globes with the HID conversions, how much did it cost ?
I believe the lenses on the HID need to be different than on the standard halogen globes.

Thanks

E60 Model Time line including LCI
Just got my 2005 530i, I was interested when the slight model changes came about and what they were ?
Examples
When did the E60 model start, I am hearing the new model is coming out in 2010 ?
I looked at a 2004 530i a while ago and it had a the standard metal key that went into the steering lock ?
My October built 2005 530i, has the electronic key that plugs into the side of the steering wheel, with the start/stop button, does this mean mine is a MY2006 ?
Then I have heard of LCI, which was a face lift upgrade I gather ?

If anyone can be bothered to explain these things, would be great

Thanks

Word of warning ... Do NOT get run flats if you can avoid it ...

I had an 2006 E90 325i M-Sport, tyres were pretty good, but very noisy, replacement cost is a killer I had 17" and I still paid $ 1600 for 4 tyres.
I week into the new tyres, I get a flat tyre warning, took it back, oh there is a flaming screw in the tyre, oh we should be replacing this tyre as Bridgestone recommend NOT to repair them.
I said to the guy, mate I am not replacing a week old $ 400 tyre, just put a plug in it, he hesitantly done it, there was a slow leak that triggered the warning every 4 weeks or so, I just pumped it up and reset the warning. NOT the right thing to do, but 1 week old tyre replacement that is just stupid.
Since the 5 Series up to a certain year came with a spare or provisions for a spare then just get standard tyres, there is more choice and they are quiter ...
I have a 2005 530i - M-Sport with 19" conventional tyres and there is no way in hell I will put run flats on it - Your choice ...
