Is audio quality between sources supposed to be so different?

Hey all, I just got a mObrige XM unit installed on my 2010 535i w/ premium sound and when I swith to XM the soiund quality is very different! It almost sounds muffled or like it is on mute? Is that normal between sources and do I just have to adjust the EQ to match the sources? I just didn't think it should sound that bad on a different source!

Thanks!

should sound good. should be near cd quality. you may have to adjust your audio settings for each input (XM, FM, CD, IPOD, etc)

how do you adjust each source? I haven't found anything in the new iDrive that allows you to do that? It seems that there is one set of settings that you can make although it is the same amongst all the sources?

This is my biggest grip with the car. If you listen to anything on the AUX-IN and then move to CD by mistake without adjusting the volume you go near deaf!

you just need to adjust audio setting while listening to each source.

There's a definite difference between AUX input and everything else. It does not sound muffled as you describe it, but definitely does not sound as rich as the CD or even the FM stations.

I have the Logic 7 on my 2008 535. Everything sounds fantastic EXCEPT for the Sirius radio - IT SUCKS. On my system, Sirius sounds tinty, wimpy, very low quality. I hardly ever listen to it. No chance in hail I'll renew the trial subscription. Heck, even the weather band sounds better!

I work with a speaker company, and from my experience with sound, XM/FM/AM has never had the same quality as CD or AUX input (assuming the song on the iPod is good quality )

Wireless is never going to have the same quality or performance as wired (as of yet), same goes for sound, internet, etc.

Hope that helps.
