Should it be an A6 3.0 TDI quattro then?

Welcome 07530d,

I originally had the std UK stereo which I found lacked bass. My current HiFi system is superb and well worth the money. I sat in an M5 recently and listened to Logic 7 and yes it has more toys to play with but in all honesty I didn't think it was worth over ?500 more than the HiFi option. My friend has a recent A4 with the concert system and I would say BMW's HiFi is on par with it.

I can recommend the heated seats for the money and I'm sure you'll enjoy the performance of the 530d. I would definately get the optional interior wood trim as IMHO the std titanium looks a bit low rent.

I entirely agree, having had all-day/weekend test drives in A6 3.0, A6 2.7 and various 5's. There are lots of other things I prefer about the A6 too. But I ordered a 5 (Touring), mainly because residuals are forecast to be much stronger in UK. The predictions are wildly different, but I averaged six different sets of numbers and hopefully am not too far out. I'll tell you in three years!

Don't change your name - just get half a 7 and half a 5 then weld em together - hey presto a BMW 7530d

I am about to order a March 06 530d se auto to replace my 2 year old Audi 1.9 tdi(130)
Will it be worth nearly twice the price of a basic A4 and am I boring ordering silver grey / black dakota
Can only afford sport wheel, auto, leather and Hi fi speakers - is Logic 7 worth the extra? (I am a keen hi fi fan)
Good idea ! You will bless for ever the day uou took THE decision to buy a 5.

The HiFi works fine. Logic 7 is only a gadget.
Get the M sport Wheel, rather than the standard sport wheel.

Last advise : Choose a dark colour !

Welcome..
Like many people here I went through the same thought process. I'm pleased to say that the 5er was the right decision. I went for the M Sport (my back's still OK) and have had it for a month now. It just seems to get better!!
On the Hi-Fi issue..I again had the same concerns...I had a BOSE system in previous car which was really superb. I echo the previous posts in that the Hi-Fi lacks a little power from that system (maybe being a little critical). If I'd never heard the BOSE previously then I wouldn't be biased I suppose. I have gotten used to the Hi-Fi and it is still a very good setup. This should be a minimum spec though when ordering if you like your sounds with any clarity.

Im so tired of people trashing the E60 interior. I think its superb. In a few years you will see the other car makers follow the interior of the E60, just like they have begun with there own versions of i-Drive. The interior is sophisticated, streamline and very modern when compared to Audi, Lexus, MB. If you like to be a leader, go for the E60 and then laugh at others trying to catch-up.

i am not moaning at the design of the bmw interior trim, i like it and the look is only an opiniion, after owning two audis you do miss the quality of the switches and feel of it all, go sit in an audi and press the buttons and turn the lights on and off etc, you will see what im on about

at last you tend to buy THE car, congrats.
Sorry man no audi is a match to E60.
Harmann Kardon is better than Bose, Mark L, opt for L7 I feel no probs with mine, I turned the bass nicely up and no probs, anyway it is not a bass-mobile but the best limusine you can get in this range.

Bose is ok, they put in audis and Vettes but then what?

Go for the Logic7 it sounds logic
