My Ride: 2006 550 SMG

When I was deciding on the auburn interior for my car I had looked at alot of interior pictures. After receiving my car I have to say none of the pictures that I had seen were even a close match, especially the one on BMWs website. Today I was looking on BMWS website at the X3 and when I clicked on the terracotta interior I was amazed. That picture is an exact match of my auburn interior, so I figuired I would post it for the people trying to get a good idea of what auburn really looks like.

On my LCD monitor as currently adjusted that is a nice medium BROWN. Pulling up the BMW web site configurator and looking at their Auburn sample I see yours as a little "brighter" and like some red dirt mixed in with the even more brownish looking Auburn shown on the configurator. So much room for differences in monitors, printers to get consensus on what constitutes a particular color. It is so scary trying to pick colors for interior or exterior with out seeing them both in the flesh and under all lighting conditions. Just exactly what I had to go thru on my 6er as I could see neither color in flesh before I ordered. Turned out perfect, however.

you are absolutely right about the picture posted - this is pretty close.

The issue to show Auburn interior on pictures is real. But even more concerning the sample my BMW dealer had wasn't giving a good representation of the interior either.

I'm very happy with the Auburn interior I have.
