how many of you experienced rough idle (slight vibration when car idles) on 545i or any other n62 engine?
I did some research and there is no certain fix to this. people switched spark plugs, adjusted walve lifters, used different gas, cleaned MAF, used fuel system cleaners, throttle cleaners, changed coils, airfilters, etc..
would be great if we can collect different opinions here and may be find the right answer. thank you

The 545i's engine has always been a rougher engine. The 550's engine is a lot smoother. And the I6's are also REALLY smooth. I just cleaner my MAF sensor and used some fuel additive and it is a a lot smoother now.
It doesn't really bother me at all. The idle is really not that bad unless your valve timing is off by a lot.

the reason i want to see opinions is because i just read a thread from 545i owner who says: "the engine is so smooth that you can't even tell it's on".. that alerted me that may be something is wrong. I reduced mine to very little by switching spark plugs and using fuel additive. I also updated software. Now will try MAF sensor cleaning, hope it's an easy DIY
vlave timing - is it an expensive fix? how someone can tell if it's off or not?

The N62 is a rougher engine.... It's supposed to be a little choppier. I think you need to take care of your MAF sensor and your valve timing only if you have misfires or are dropping fuel economy. I did change my spark plugs because I was having rough starts. But when the engine is warm - idling is like purring....not of a cat, but of a lion!!

i have 94,XXX miles on mine and i've noticed lately that it tends to be rough and shaky at lights sometimes...i'm thinking after i do the 100K maint. it'll be smoother again. However i don't notice a loss in power or anything, just a slight rough/shaky idle.
