So, I wanted to get some input from others who do a lot of highway miles/commute to work. Does anyone else notice a TON of rock chips in their hood/doors/fenders? Every fucking week I have at least 2 more from my 60~ mile commute. Sigh. It seems that BMW has the softest paint ever..

Anyone else experiencing this? Or is it just me?

Following large trucks (closely) at highway speeds = rock and sand blasting! The windshield takes a beating too!! Consider it one of the inconveniences of being a road warrior! I did that for 20+ years and the front of every one of my cars took a beating - including non-BMWs!! No paint can handle even small rocks hitting it at 60-90 mph.

Thanks for the replies. I know rock chips are a normal occurence, however the extent and size of the ones on my BMW are unlike anything I've ever seen.

Especially the ones on the driver's side door and hood. The bumper isn't all that bad.

I'm going to try a Dr. Color chip kit and see how it works. I will post before and afters when I do it.

Ya, this is the solution, if I resprayed the entire front of the car. Maybe if the doctor colorchip kit works well this is an option too.

But as of now, the clear bra wont help!
