thats crazy i mob , here in america its called low jack, but im not sure if it can be shut down remotely or even yet, it is gps enable, but i think its only activated by cops

Believe me, I hate to get rid of the car. I am a big BMW fan - previous owner of a '99 M3 & '99 540 sport.. We may just decide to get rid of the this 545 as I don't want my wife to have to confront the bad memory on a daily basis. Maybe we'll go with a 550 in a different color if she thinks she'll be fine with it...My wife is an incredible driver and loves the acceleration and handling of the BMW's, so we'll wait for things to settle down a bit before making that decision.

I feel with you, yes our pleasure is noticable for some, so imagine my HM I cannot hide. But even here in this city there are areas I have never been w my car and never will go! I take the bus or metro and no wallet.
Poor wife and you, but hey when you get back the car keep it!!! It is tooo much emotion to get rid of that car is no gulity. This can happen in a Geo if they are a-holes as you said. Mine has all EU covered GPS tracking, anti-car-jacking device, so not afraid but always carefull. Also at lights. If some "suspicious" approches the car I try to be ready to "take off" with 608Nm is possible. They normally do not kill for a damn car, some crazy-mentals do but hopefully rare. So keep the car get a gun or a GPS-tracking, and anti-car-jacking system, but also like if they ask you put the code, but a fake one=police or security comes immed. Was that in NY???scary man.

They surrounded the car with that yellow police tape until the Nassau County CSI dept. showed up. CSI took the car with them to dust it for prints and any other tests. We should be getting it back in a couple days.
The majority opinion is that my wife may have been followed or they have been watching the car as we have a custom license plate that is easily recognizeable. We are changing that immediately back to a random plate.
I cannot tell you how thankful I am to the owner of the drycleaners for risking his life for my wife. I am even more thankful that my 4 year old and 6 month old were not with my wife at the time...
I cannot stress enough how important it is, especially owning a 'luxury' car, to be very aware of your surroundings when walking to or entering your car - then lock the doors when you get in. For those with BMW assist, make sure you and your loved ones always have that phone # with them so G*d forbid someone were to take the car and children were inside, the car could be tracked instantly. There is nothing in this world more valuable than those you love...
Unfortunately, due to this episode, we are most likely going to get rid of the car to avoid bad memories...

I'm glad to hear that your wife is OK....we can hope in the goodness of others I guess society hasnt completely gone to the sewers.
Just out of curiosity may I ask where this happened as I also live on LI, was wondering if it was a bad neighborhood.

One block from my work, a person in a jaguar was attack in broad daylight at one of the busiest interection in Houston, Texas. He was a patient of my wife and said these "cock roaches" came out of nowhere while he was pumping gas, and started beating him for his wallet and car keys. The store owner saw the situation, came out with a gun, and shot up in the air. The crooks scattered like cock roaches - literally.
Since last hurricane season, Houston's crime rate increased in the double digits . . . and we didn't have a shortage of law enforcers either.
