April sales of the 5 Series were up 3.7% over last April. YTD sales for the first 4 months of 2005 were also up 5.8%. This month the E60 530xi was delivered to the first nine customers.
By comparison, sales of the Mercedes-Benz E Class were down 26.3% with sales of only 3,731 units this month and 5,065 units last April. Sales of the MB E Class were down 29.1% for the first third of 2005.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.

My guesses are that im probably wrong but isnt production of the xi models due for US beginning in 1st week of May (presently)? Every dealer I asked about said their first allocations were for May production, May/June Delivery.

Yes, just like the first allocation of "regular" 530i 2006 cars. I picked mine up April 18th (and it was ready on the 16th).

Well, somehow they delivered 9 of them in April. Must have been built sometime in March.

Wow. The E60 is rockin'.
The pace for the first 4 months of 2005 is well ahead of any previous year shown in that data. At this pace the E60 could sell nearly 50,000 units during 2005.
Do these sales levels make the E60 the best selling 5 series yet, or have years prior to 2001 had bigger sales?

Man BMW is selling twice as much 545s compared to 540s of the same month previous years.
