Default Anyone used a Mityvac on their N52/54??

So I bought a Mityvac oil extractor, thinking I was all cool and could use it on my E39 M5 and 350Z, but then I remembered my fiancé's E60 525xi doesn't have a freaking dipstick!! Now I feel like one!

Anyways, has anyone found another means for getting to the bottom of the oil pan with the tube? Maybe hooking it up to the oil filter line (that must go to the bottom I'd assume, no?).

Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Lowest point of oil pan on N52 is on the rear of the engine. Oil filter housing is in the front.
I can't see how you can snake the hose from oil filter housing to the lowest point in the oil pan.

Shouldn't have to snake the hose, rather, make use of the lines already going to and from the oil filter. There must be a feed and a return line, and I'm assuming they must pick up the oil to be filtered from the lowest spot in the pan. So, all one would need to do, if this is correct is to remove the feed line, connect that to the vacuum machine, and proceed with removing the oil.

Anyone tried this, or can see it to be plausible? I called Mityvac, and they are kinda freaked that this won't work on the many new BMW engines which are sans-dipstick.

Id rather just open a bolt and do the oil change. You wont always get 100% of the oil out of your pan if you use vaccum, you cant even get 100% with removing the drain plug. plus if you have sludge build up in the pan......

I think opening the drain pain is much better and the way the engineers intended for the oil change to happen. Just my opinion.

ps. i am a previous user of the mityvac, i feel much safer to use the drain plug

Don't think there are any lines on the back of the oil filter, maybe vacuum lines. I think that if there were the risk of creating a oil leak would be pretty high though. I too miss the dip stick as I'm often wondering if this sensor fails or doesn't work correctly how will I know?

So I was able to do a little homework while on the road here (not home where as I can simply pop the hood and have a peek) and I've found that the oil filter setup is now line-less, instead it is physically attached to the block. Long story short, its just not gonna happen. Old fashioned way we go!
