Now im not someone who normally races other cars at speed, by just couldnt resist this one. Few lads drive past me at about 80mph this evening revving etc giving me the indicators. Just had the car remapped 2 weeks ago, E60 530d reading 262bhp.
The civic typr r ctr wasnt slow at all, there wasnt alot in it upto 140mph, though he had a good head start before i decided to floor it. My car isnt running to well at the minute with rough idleing and missing sometimes, think maybe faulty injectors , but decided to continue through 4 or 5 roundabouts and did get past him on one of them but there was little in it. His CTR was spitting big flames and all sorts.
This was all on a track by the way, those new ones with roundabouts.
Does that sound about right, or was his car turbo'd do you think?

There is no way a civic can keep up with you without some sort of boost. My guess is he was using Nitrous.

Yes, when i saw him spitting out huge flames, i knew this thing cant be standard. Was a quick car but i always had the slight advantage, just !
Had to be turbo'd or running nitros

I'm sure it was complete stock.
I raced one with my remapped 525d (235 bhp) and lost the battle :-)
The civic has 201 bhp and weight less so i'm sure it was stock....
Those honda's are high revving cars and fast...

What's the point, if you win, well you are supposed to......if you lose you can't tell anyone.

I doubt it was stock unless 530d lacks some serious pull beyond 80 MPH (never driven one, but I'm sure it pulls decent) because the Civic Type R's really stop pulling beyond about 90 MPH. Most likely a nitrous shot.

The Japanese Type R's can be of a different spec than they are here in the states. I don't know the spec they have in Europe, but considering Mitsubishi and other Japanese co's give Europe hotter cars than we get here, it's possible the one you saw was stock-ish. If it's dumping fuel into the exhaust, he could simply have tuned the ECU, or be running a piggy back. I'm quite certain that if that car had a turbo or Nitrous, he would have left you in the weeds. It's a really light car, and with those kinds of mods, he'd be pumping out north of 300hp. Heck, my EVO track car has roughly 330hp, does 0-60 in almost 4 seconds flat, and the 1/4 in the mid to high 12's. It's also a 3100lbs car. That civic is much lighter.

The biggest difference I've seen with most civics with the Type R label is the sticker itself....Adds 100 psycological HP

Yes agree with the weight difference thing, probably wasnt nitrox come to think of it or it would have pulled away from me.
Ive never seen a standard ctr spitting flames though, when we slowed down for the roundabouts and we both floored it i though the torque of my car would have pulled more, but was only gaining a slight edge on him.
Im sure on a flat long road i would have pulled quite easily away from him at higher speed.
When checking the 0-60mph times i see the ctr is 6.2 and the 530d 6.6, that explains the not pulling away easily i guess.
