My airbag light just popped on today and says passenger side restraint malfunction. Is there anyone that can help me scan it to see exactly what is the problem. I can replace whatever is needed. Just don't want to spend over $100 at BMW dealer to tell them what I need. Asking one e60 member to help out another e60 member. Karma is always good!
I will meet you wherever you are able to scan it. I'll even buy lunch !

Isn't that a recall. When I had my 545, I got a letter about the recall for the passenger restraint and airbag. Took it to the dealer and they took care of it. Has been a while. But I think that's it. Call BMW and ask if there is a recall for your car. If not. Go to Motorcepts in Richmond Hill. They can check the code for you.

I just had that fixed today by BMW dealer.
I thought the seat mat sensor (OC3 bulletin) will take care of the problem. Dealer diagnosed the problem to be Battery Safety Terminal (BST). Total bill $520 for diagnosis and replacement of BST. First they said it's the IBS; then after further diagnosis, they said BST is the root cause of the problem.
