just checked recently and i am missing my emergency triangle. I had no need to check till yesterday. Could the dealer have misplaced it? Is anyone else missing it?

As far as I know, the triangle isn't included on US spec cars so I guess you could say I'm missing mine too!

Indeed the triangle is not included in US spec cars. But watch out: I ordered the BMW triangle that is listed in the accessories catalog, and it is bigger and DOES NOT FIT into the place in the trunk lid. My dealer's part department then checked to find the correct part number and had to tell me that this was only available in Germany (Europe, I guess). I had posted this question sometime ago, and someone responded that they got one from Pep Boys that fit right in, and he was going to look for the part number, but then we forgot about it. Occasionally I look at Pep Boys but my store has not had one that looked like it might fit.

I took my triangle out of my Euro Delievery e60 when I returned it for shipment to the US. The triangle came to the US in my suitcase. It is now happy to be in its rightful home in my 5 er.

You might try to post the part number of the triangle you rec'd from ED. Usually, on things like this, the part number is stamped into it somewhere.

I'll have to go look at the part number. I found a triangle at PepBoys, but it is a bit different. It actually clips onto the lowered window of the car as opposed to the free standing unit that you set on the road behind the car. But it does fit in the storage area in the trunk.

That explains it. I'm missing mine too. It clearly says in the owners manual that we have one (it didn't have a little * next to it, either). If its in the US manual, shouldn't it be in the US cars?

Sue, where does it say that? My curiosity has the best of me and I'm having trouble finding it -- the only reference to the tool kit I can find in the manual is on page 184 (.pdf page 186) and it shows a photo of it that clearly does not contain a triangle.

edit: I found something else. On page 191 (.pdf page 193) they show the warning triangle but on the .pdf copy, there's clearly an asterisk showing it's not standard and that you should comply with local requirements when carrying a triangle.
