I didn't opt for the TV mode on my latest E60 as I didn't believe I would use it that much plus it was ?750. Just out of curiosity I was wondering what people thought of it and when they used it. I understand it goes off over 4mph. Do you find it dangerous if you watch it in slow moving traffic?

Didn't order in it our E60, the price was way to high...

Had it in our Volvo V70, before we bought the BMW... I got it in the Volvo because it was around ?200, so not as expensive as the E60..

In the Volvo I made a nice thing, installed a home made switch, so I was able to watch Tv while driving (the Volvo wasn't fun to drive at all, compared to the E60 )...

Was wondering...is this an option for E60 in the US? if not, any ideas about installing?

I have just taken delivery of my 06 525. I did order the TV option but I have been very disappointed by the reception. It is supposedly a freeview and analogue receiver but on most stations it just comes up "No Signal". I'm not sure whether this is normal but at the moment I am disappointed. I am thinking about sending it back to the dealer to see what they say but not sure I can face the hassle factor!!

Strange because I also used an X5 demonstrator for a few days earlier this year before I bought this car and the reception for analogue and freeview was much better than I am getting now.

If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Hi,
It works well here in Portugal and is a nice to have while in the traffic. The auto shut-off while moving should be configurable (with all the warnings and legal disclaimers they wanted to add).
It could also plays dvds...

Same for me. Reception very poor in UK - never managed to get a digital station only analogue. The TV in the E39 was way better - in fact EVERTHING in the E39 was better.

I got it and use it now and again - needs an option to watch TV whilst moving though.

The reception isn't great though.

Pascal, just a stupid question (maybe) but...did you set the right "standard" for your country?

I ask you this because I used to get that same ad "no signal" for several channels until I set the standard for my country and then I had all the channels taken.

Just make sure you don't order the unit from www.tvfree-modules.com. Ordered from them in September, they took payment from credit card straight away, supposedly shipped it in November, still hasn't arrived - and they've ignored all my emails. I'm in the process of reporting them to credit card company.
