Not heard much on this model. Read a good write up in BMW magazine.
Is it the natural prgression from a 530i? Will many be sold in Europe or is a US thing?
Anyone have any comments?

Yeah, my wife has a 540. But it's a 2003, from when that was the top of the line. In that model year, the last for that model, they offered an MSport, which is beautiful and rare. It's got M wheels, door sills, body kit, steering wheel, etc.
But I know you this is not what you were talking about.

Not available in the US.
I mentioned this a few months ago, and most of the European members thought that the additional performance wouldn't be worth the additional $ or fuel. They said they would stick with the diesel or I6, and if they really wanted a V8 then they'd rather go for the 545/550.

The petrol X5s depreciate horrendously, wouldn't even contemplate a petrol over 3.0 unless it was used (and therefore cheap!).
