On the former steptronic 6 speed auto, you could reset the transimssion's electronic brain by holding the throttle to floor for 20 sec. in accessory mode (you can hear audible confirmation of the reset through the floor of the car). Does anyone know if, or how this is accomplished with the new sport auto (6/07 production onward)?

Service Advisor says tech doesn't know? Doubtful.

Has anyone ever had their transmission software flashed at the dealer? The car, with 11k mi. started shifting too hard ONLY in DS?? There is a little delay and then bang, even at low rpms?

Thanks
DRP

I just got mine back Tuesday after a progman update, etc. I'm pretty sure the transmission was reset during the process but can't say for sure.

Right now, the car does seem to drive better but I think it's too early to tell if it's really different or if I'm just imagining it and re-adjusting to my car after spending a few days with a 335Xi coupe...

I tried the original 25 second reset trick via holding the gas pedal down, did not hear any noise but the car did seem to shift better. Perhaps it is a placebo effect tho...

I had my 550 reprogrammed because i was having really bad "jerking" when car downshifting coming to a complete stop. The tranny felt a big improvement for a couple of weeks, then it was back to the "jerking". SA is trying to see if there is a permanent solution.

I tried the manual reset trick, and nothing seemed to happen..

How did you like the 335xi coupe Rudy? That was the original car I was planning on getting untill I fell in love with the E60.

.. never did take one for a test drive, just a 335i sedan.

Isn't your car still in the break-in/learning period? would be even able to reset? didn't like the 335i sedan that i test drove last month, neither did my wife...

I have just under 12,000km, so my answer is.. I don't know lol! Didn't know it mattered?

Nore did I like the 335i sedan, it didn't feel as smooth as the 535, and didn't fit my fat a$$ as well as the 5! (6'2, 265lbs)

I do that 25 second trick every two weeks. Seems it shifts better, but not sure. But it does make me think it shifts better ... at leaset for the next two weeks. I would go with the placebo theory.

In fact I don't care what troubles me about my E60. The 25 second trick fixes it.

It was fun to drive but I was glad to get my E60 back. It did, however, feel better than the sedan I had for my last loaner. Not sure exactly why but the sedan tended to feel less controllable than the coupe.
