Well the house #s in Queens are different than other places....They have a hyphen which separates the street number from the house number. Thus, 77-25 105th Avenue (I'm just making this address up) is between 77th and 78th Street. Maybe this has something to do with it???

I don't think so. What happens is the "House Number" option is grayed out so you are not allowed to enter a house number. My other 2 cars do not have this problem. It has to be a software issue.

You would think a $67,000 BMW would let you input an address on a major street in a major city. My 2005 Denali and my wife's 2003 TL work with no problem.

yup, it is crazy, my '05 Trailblazer lets me do this and has a great touchscreen too, i guess GM wins this time

I have the SAME EXACT problem! It is frustrating the sh*t out of me. I too live in Queens, and have only been able to enter house numbers when I enter an address outside of Queens. It really sucks. My previous car, Infiniti G35 Coupe, had nav, and I never once had ANY issue with it whatsoever. It was such a flawless system as far as I'm concerned. BMW has a lot of improving to do to their nav systems. But aside from the address field being grayed out, it does it's job, and I don't regret getting it. But I definitely share in your frustration.

By the way, where in Queens are you guys from?

I called NAVTEQ and emailed both NAVTEQ & BMW about the problem. I'll keep you guys posted.

The Navigation system continues to frustrate me...

Everytime I have used my Nav to take me to someones house in Queens, NY the house number line is grayed out and I am unable to enter anything in.? The only way for me to get it close is to enter in an intersection.?

Are you guys having the same problem when driving to Queens?

I had the same problem with inputting addresses in queens, I recently had my sw upgraded to 19.01 and now it has eliminated the house numbers and now offers only streets. I guess that was the the fix

THIS IS THE REPLY FROM BMW NA:

Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding the navigation DVD in your 2005 545i. I am sorry to hear of your concerns with the navigation software.

It appears as though the DVD does not contain detailed map information for that area. I recommend checking the DVD in your vehicle to ensure you have the latest version. The latest DVD released by Navteq is version 2005.2. If necessary, new navigation software can be obtained directly through the parts department at your authorized BMW center.

THIS IS THE REPLY FROM NAVTEQ:

SiemensVDO-Regensburg (the manufacturer of your system) states that they
have a problem with the addresses in Queens, NY. This is not a problem
with the NAVTEQ database but rather a problem with the system software.
We will discuss the problem further with BMW-NA engineering.
Unfortunately, we do not have any suggestions for you to overcome or
bypass this problem.
