My Ride: e60 530i - SOLD!
Default

Ride is three years old now. First electronic failure that sticks on i-drive fault status.
The PDC is not functioning - no proximity feedback.
Going to send in for repair however.. Can anyone here who had PDC failure before share what are the likely root cause?
Relay? fuse? sensor problem in the circuit?

thanks

One of my sensors failed, in that circumstance it gave a positive alert all the time. Eg whenever in reverse it indicated an obstruction. I assumed that this was an in built safety feature, better that way than you backing into something believing that it is all clear, in time of failure..

The sensors are very prone to failure, I have had them fail on E46 and E60. The E60 ones HAVE to come from Germany as BMW does not allow Dealers to paint them (see realoem.com). You may be able to get E46 (unpainted) ones from eBay or similar, then just have them sprayed. All mine have been replaced under warranty, so I don't know how much they cost.

It's amazing how much we rely on little things like that isn't it?
