Oh, I heard there where issues with lubrication and stuff, huh. Since I drive in DS mode most of the time, I will just have to cope with the little kick. I don't want to switch from DS to Neutral and Neutral to DS.
Oh..yeah...if you were in DS that would be sort of a pain.. Interestingly the 06+ models feature a soft stop on their pads [think it has to do with the transmission being updated]. It's insane sometimes - my wife's 2007 X5 stops a lot smoother than my 2005 545i does!!!! Yes, only a BMW truck can stop smoother than a sedan!!!!

Thank you all for your responses.

I felt it again IT IS REALLY HORRIBLE TO DRIVE 545i IN LOCAL because of the abrupt/vibrational stop and start.
I think the transmission is really DEFECTIVE. I would not recommend anyone to buy 05 545i.
Obviously it is not only me. How can you deal with this issue for your local drive?
Is there anyone who really fixed the problem?
I am desperate. I will try to send mine to BMW dealership one more time.
If it is not fixed this time I am going to sell mine after 3 months of ride.
Hope there is a fix other than transmission replacement from BMW...?
How much could I get for 2005 545i 34k fully loaded?

Thank you in advance...

Let the dealer look at it again and check the software. Though I'm sure they've done it.

Hard to believe a BMW sedan that cost this much can't stop smoothly. If a damn Kia can do it a BMW can.

BMGG, I have noticed the abrupt stops at times but this does not bother me. I feel like the abrupt stop is a combination of the engine braking(downshifting) and the grip of the brakes themselves. Personally, I get a smile on my face every time I feel this. I try to experience the most of the German Engineering with my right foot on the accelerator and my left hand on the steering wheel. Whenever I have the unfortunate situation of having to use my brake, I always feel a little reassured that there is adequate braking power should I ever need it.
