Any real word on why BMW dumped SMG on non-M cars?

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Any real word on why BMW dumped the SMG option on all non-M cars?

I think it's just in th US. At least it was available last week at my dealer.

Yes thats what I meant. My car is up in April and the new auto thats supposed to be so good is not available until mid year I believe. I do like the new 550 sport with the sport body pieces, but no pricing on that yet.
