Another question is - why does BMW persist using light bulbs...? Too expensive with LED only?
Don't think so. No matter what the price is, they will charge it to you (even with margin).

So in case for example LED's are 200 EUR more expensive, you will have to pay 250 EUR or more option for LED's.

Another item is that (as far as I know) LED and normal bulbs are different in Angle Vision.
If you look directly to LED lights, the will shine hard. If you see it from a side, the will be hardly visible.

So it should be OK for all legislation, before they can implement.

Yes, me too.

Much better than the Audi's leds, they look kind of cheap.

Question is: are they retrofitable?
I think they are!

In the E39 they where.

I sure hope so. Problem is that the the E39 didnt have any LEDs so the retrofit wasnt a big deal. With these it might be a problem because of the use of LEDs on the turn signals.

No, it was the same deal...the E39 retrofit had special boxes that tricked the LCM into thinking that the car still had bulbs. Same principle could be applied to turn signals. (For example, on my current LED retrofit, I use power resistors to "trick" the car into thinking it still has bulbs.)

Also, latest Progman has support for LED rear lamps, so it may be that they'll just be supported on pre-LCI models with newer Progman anyway. I'll be finding this out when I do the retrofit myself.
