2004 BMW 545i sport, 115K miles and runs like a dream.
Purchased three years ago with 76K miles and three months left on bumper to bumper warranty. Obtained all dealer records back to 23K miles and like many BMWs she had a lot done by the dealer, including an engine-out replacement of every gasket on the top end of the engine as well as water pipe and alternator bracket gasket and thrust bushings in front at 75K miles, just before I got her. SWEET!
During first three months of ownership iDrive screen was replaced under warranty and entire car reprogrammed. Original battery was replaced with AGM unit and registered (a bargain at $279 from a dealer since they were already doing the reprogramming and the battery was out to do the battery cable recall work at the same time).
I have replace the plugs, alternator, water pump (twice-first time I used a piece of crap Beck and Arnley Chinese made unit that lasted exactly two years before massive bearing failure-second time I put in a Graf like I should have in the first place), thermostat, coolant reservoir, infamous vent hose that runs across radiator and a set of tires.
All fluids are changed regularly including 5K oil drain intervals. She uses zero oil, and no sign of valve stem issues, but like many German cars she sweats a little (probably alternator bracket gasket which was changed only 40K miles ago - it is a totally bad gasket design) but she never sweats enough that oil exits the belly pan. I clean up the bottom of the engine during each oil change.
Getting ready to put some Bilstein B8s on her before she starts to float (stock Sachs shocks are still tight but one front strut is starting to leak).
Can't say enough about the N62 engine (other than the leaks it is known for). Pulls like a tractor from 1500 RPM to read line. And couldn't even imagine owning the car without the sport suspension and active roll stabilization. Driving the mountain roads from Scottsdale to LA, San Diego or Vegas is pure joy.
I am so connected to the car that I suspect I will run her up to 200K or more, as AZ's weather and glass smooth roads are easy on cars as long as they are kept out of the sun.

My Ride: 2004/05 E60 530i with M54
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
Just got myself a late '04 530i with M54 engine. It had done 197000km but the test drive was enough to convince me to buy it. Have thus far replaced valve cover gasket (leaking at rear of engine), coolant tank (level stick broke), oil filter housing seal (leaking and dripping down to pan and running along sump line), and thermostat (leaking from sensor switch with white crystalized deposits of coolant as evidence).
To do:
1. Hopefully no more oil leaks (especially sump gasket) so monitoring
2. Castor rod bush on passenger side worn, gonna replace both in near future
3. Rear RHS drive shaft worn/noisy, gonna replace in near future
All these are items I would have expected to replace/pay attention to with high mileage, especially if some had been in country Australia on unsealed roads. Lots of fine dust under engine trim made me suspect off road use.
