Yupp! like Rudy said, pull it straight up! it's very easy to take out! Just make sure the contacts underneath are at the right position when putting it back on. they're made out of plastic you know...(except for M5 knobs)

We are still talking about the I-drive controller correct?

How to make sure the contacts underneath are at the right position when putting it back on? It does not feel like plastic though.

I just replaced my idrive knob with the M5 part. Very easy, pulls right off lifting up. There is no specific orientation other than certain grooves need to line up and it's easy to see how/where is goes back on once you have it off. Takes seconds, really.
