Hello,

I'm thinking about doing a bi-xenon headlight retrofit on my halogen headlights. I have seen a few Bi-xenon headlights on US Ebay and just wanted to know if they are exactly the same as the versions? I currently have a 2006 year and am looking at headlights off a similar aged car, which I believe take a D1S bulb.

Thanks

For models before 2008 or what's also known as before the LCI cars, the US headlights have an amber reflector embedded into the corners of the headlights. The European version has clear reflectors. Most people on this forum in the US hate that amber reflector and wished we had the eurospec headlamps. I actually bought one and have it on mine.

Also, your car is right hand drive while ours is left hand drive and I believe the function of the adaptive headlight on our cars would be different.

That's funny, an European cousin of mine hates his clear reflectors and wishes for my amber reflectors. I think it's a case of wanting what we can't have.

The other difference is that european lights are pointing a little to the right and UK lights are pointing a little to the left, they do this so your lights wont blind the person that is driving towards you. So if you live in the UK you can't put european lights on your car because it wont get through the inspection.

That makes sense. Must be also true for Australian and Japanese cars.

I don't know about halogens, but the UK xenon headlights have little levers on them to deal with this. When I want to drive in Belgium, I just switch the levers and the headlamps point the right way.

Simples.
