My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Sport
Carbon Black Metallic/Cream Beige
Manny tranny and other stuff
Recently gone, but never forgotten:
2005 Ford Mustang GT (hence the name)
Torch Red/Crimson
Manny tranny and every option available for that year
2002 Chrysler 300M Special
Brilliant Black/Light Taupe/Dark Slate
Autostick and goo-gobs of neat features that I will sorely miss
Yes, the battery of the 550i is in the trunk. Ever notice how the V8 5-series is quieter on the road than the I6 cars? Maybe they have more sound dampening in the 550i as ballast.

Curious, does the 550i locate the battery in the trunk like my bro's 740il? The 535 is under the hood so that could be part of the difference

i believe I6 engined vehicles carry the battery under the hood, and v8+v10s carry in trunk

im not sold on that either, my E90 330 has the bat in the same location as the e60 550...its easier to access in the E90 though.
Even though the OP is banned, I'd like to see the proof that the I6 engined E60's have the battery in the front...
hmmm, after taking the picture, i'm starting to doubt my assumption. I only see the (+) and (-) connectors to the battery, but not the actual battery itself.
was i mistaken to think this would be the battery under the hood?
