Hi all,
Brand new to a great forum! I've recently bought a 04 E60 525i and am very happy apart from the small 16" wheels. I'm looking around for some larger wheels and I think I want to stick to genuine BMW rim styles. My question is I've been offered a nice set of 19" 10 spoke alloys off a 97 E38 7 series. The fronts are 8J x 19 with offset of 20 with 245/40's fitted and the rears are 9J's with a offset of 20 and 275/35's. Will these fit on the hubs without mod and will they rub/are the offsets ok????Point me at oily bits and I'm fine, but I'm usless at wheel size stuff!! I've searched around but can't seem to find a definitive answer that puts my mind at rest before I part with cash!! Finally I'm sorry that it's another boring wheel question!

Those tires are not the correct size. And don't mess with old rims off a '97 7-series...but those offsets would work. If you can't find info on wheels by searching the forum, then you won't find anything!

You should stick with OEM 19" rims for the E60...such as staggered 166, 167, 128 or 172 style rims. 245/35/19 front, 275/30/19 rear tires.

Offsets for the front 8.5" rim are ET12-ET18. Rear offsets on 9.5" rear rim are from ET17-32 (a 285 tire on the rear would require closer to ET20). The closer you get to the lower offset using the tire sizes above, the more pushed out the rims will be.

Another wheel question!!!!-_b_mhk_wbmk___kgrhgoh_emejlllwljkbksow9niw____35.jpg

Thanks for the tyre info, these are the wheels in question that are I think style 166 which is why I like them so much! I don't think they're 11 years old! I'm sure they'd look great on my mystic blue E60 and not many sets like these seem to turn up!?!? So undecided!!!

That surely is a BMW style rim, but definitely NOT genuine according to widths and offsets you mentioned.

Thanks for all the info, the more people are saying, the less likely it seems they'll fit .... and look good! I really like the style but can't find any genuine items anywhere over here, well not for less than ?1700 !!!!!!! Unfortunatley, her indoors seems to think the 16" originals are fine and can't see the point of bigger wheels so won't cough up anything like that kind of money for a genuine new set!!!

The rims themselves would fit, but the tire size should be 245/35 R19 in front and 275/30 in rear. And you would like to use spacers with them, since they are 8" and 9" with the offset ET20, and would sit pretty deep in the wheel well.

And going for replicas is not maybe a good thing .

I don't want to make things fit, ie use spacers. Not keen on spacers between hubs and wheels etc! I think I'll just have to keep looking to find the correct size genuine items. I've also got my eyes on a set of 18" flat spoke (7 spokes 245/40/18), but not too sure if they'll look that great??? Another wheel question!!!!-_b_ldu4w_mk___kgrhgoh_ckejlll7ibubkqtus7e7____35.jpg

Any thoughts??

Thanks for the link and the good info , the 7 spokes look much better on the car (hope they'd look as good on a Mystic Blue E60!?!)and I know for a fact that the set for sale are a set of genuine BMW wheels!! I don't think they look quite as good as the 166 style but I'd much rather have a genuine 100% bmw set of wheels without spacers than a possibly ill fitting, dodgy copy of BMW wheels with spacers!!!
