Okay, call me crazy but I've always thought that the heated steering wheel is one of the greatest things to have if you live in an area that gets cold (even just cool).

I had the heated wheel on my '98 E39 but it wasn't offered on my '01 E39 with the sport package (sport steering wheel). I'm so excited to have it again on this car.

Now, to my feature request:

I need heated SMG paddles! I know it sounds nuts but today it was only about 55 degrees (F) and I was using the wheel heater but was amazed and how chilly the aluminum paddles were. I can only imagine how cold they'll be when the temperature gets down to the single digits, etc. this winter.

Fellow SMG owners, just you wait -- you'll see what I mean soon!

Fortunately, we Southern Californians don't have that problem unless we're up in the snow! ...but nothing that driving gloves can't cure!

Yeah, but the heated wheel takes away the need for the driving gloves. Back in the E39 days, I used to wish for a heated shifter since the wood inlays would be chilly.

I can only imagine how much colder the aluminum paddles will be. I guess I can always use the shifter -- there's no wood anymore, only leather.

Hey, Rudy, you're holding them too long. Tap'em and let'em go. Long push, short tap, the shift is all the same.

Yeah, but I got the cold weather package anyways. Not sure why though, I haven't used it once in 8 months.

Just wondering, do the SMG paddles get overbearingly hot if you park out in the sun for awhile?

Correct but I often rest my fingers on them during normal city driving.

Never had that problem. If JDN hasn't had that problem in Dallas, then I doubt anyone would have it...

How about a heated shifter as well.

Just put a heated blanket on a timer in your ride and have it set up to go on an hour or so before you leave for work.
