What's up people?

I need some help with finding out what exactly is wrong with my baby.
I tried searching using all types of strings, but no luck. so here I go.

Problem 1)
Either the V8 or the tranny makes a pretty irritating grinding noise when starting a slow start from a complete stop. Gears are somewhere between 1-3 or 3-4. At this point, my feet are applying very minimal pressure on the accelerator. The Grinding continues until the RPM reaches above 2300 or so. It sounds like a starbucks frap maker.

Problem 2)
I hear a humming noise somewhere between the steering wheel and the dash board or even possibly the passenger side of the engine room. This noise only appears when the car is at a stop and the engine is idle.

My MY06 never had this problem, but my MY07 had this problem since day 1.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I would like to find out the problem before going to the dealer.

Thanks again!

I guess you're not going to fix it youself even someone can give you some answers. Take it back to dealer...

Perhaps I may have written this thread to get some insight before heading to the dealer??

Sorry, with those kind of quality problems you need to converse with you BMW retailer!

I believe I have the same "grinding" noise you describe when starting off in either forward or reverse directions, either cold or warm. I am just considering it to be a characteristic of this car--my first BMW. I purchased mine CPO two months ago with 21K miles and it has been there from day 1.

Thanks for the replies, I have set up an appointment with my service center next week.
I hope this won't be something major, but that 'grinding' sound really worries me every time this happens.
I will keep you all posted.

BTW, my MY07 is a pre-sept/2006 build. Would the newest CIP update give me RTTI functionality and a set of dead eyebrows?

If it was me I take it back to the dealer and get them fix for free.

No. Assuming your dealer has version 24.XX.

CIP 24.XX., anybody in the U.S. have this update done? My car doesn't have HD radio, would I be able to get RTTI?
As I mentioned before, my car is a pre-september-MY07 build w/ nav.
