Sorry to hear that.
So they're sure it's not the alternator either?

I actually ended up replacing my alternator per the SA's recommendation. They still have my car and when I call to get an update, they dont seem like they know wtf is going on, and say they'll get back to me...

I'm trying to find the links on the thread for the issues I just faced. I came across:
ABS, DSC, AS, handbrake light, and some funny yellow clock looking display, and -640000km, and the car wouldnt start, and iDrive kept going in and out.
My battery is about two months old. Not sure why this might be happening. I tried to search but came up with limited results.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can help...
I can put up pics if need be...

I experienced exactly the same today (2 times). I checked battery and it is OK (13,1 V) and alternator is OK also : 14,8 V engine running... But it is very cold today : -17?C degree (??F). My car is a 2004 - 530d E60 with a lot of option : Active steering, Automatic gearbox, NAV, etc. Once it happens I've to stop the car and wait for about 2 minutes and I can strat it agin with no more errors. It happens 2 time, and each time I've to stop the car because, no ABS, no gearshift (blocked), no AS... No more Display, no more speed needle.
Any idea Welcome.

Alright - just to update this and bring closure to the matter...I got my car back today after 2.5 weeks.
After the new battery and alternator replacement, the car did the same thing so they put a NEW battery and NEW alternator in hoping that those were both bad parts. Then it turned out to be a $400 fix as mentioned above by another member for the IBS cable/wire or whatever that is the terminal to the battery I believe. That was shorting out the battery and alternator. They had initially charged me 1225.xx for the batt/alternator and then didnt charge me any more.
It could have been handled with a $400 job initially.
This concludes my soap opera at the dealer.
